Script Frenzy

That's actually the name of the sibling of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) that happened in November. So, for April, one writes fast and furiously to create a script (stage, screen play, TV program) or scripts that total 100 pages.

I went and signed up for it! Why, oh, why would I do that to myself right before taxes are due? Glutton for punishment? Masochist? (I just looked that up and definition 4 says: "the tendency to invite and enjoy misery of any kind, especially in order to be pitied by others or admired for forbearance." If I'm earning your pity, send chocolate; if your admiration, send money.) Or perhaps I just have some scripts that need writing this year and I might as well see the virtual word ticker count up.

Chris was very complimentary though: "100 pages? But you write our 45 page shows in only a couple of days. You'll be done in a week." With that thought, I could easily start April 16th and do just fine. But do keep in mind these scripts would be rough drafts and definitely not heading for Broadway or Off Off (off off off) Broadway.

Maybe it will be a Script Mosey for me.

  1. Think of it this way: 100 pages of script is much less than if it were straight prose. There is lots of nice, helpful empty space in a script! :-)

Oh, I love the white spaces. (sighs) I'm so glad someone invented script format. (laughs)
